Of course it would be good to conduct a separate study with involvement of focus groups to understand what actually affects the choice of future profession that young people make. According to dry statistics given by The Unified State Electronic Database on Education, there is such tendency that applicants are trying to avoid majoring in such subjects:
- a) related to industries traditional for Ukraine, which are stagnating or related to fundamental science, is going through a really tough time in our country;
- b) associated with risk, responsibility, hard work, the need to dive into special knowledge. This can partly explain the wariness of the mentioned mathematics, physics and chemistry, and of the professions associated with nuclear power or aviation and rocket and space technology, for example. In Ukraine one cannot find well paid job when looking for employment in one of these fields today.
