According to statistics, 42 million Ukrainians account for 54 million mobile subscribers. The new government has already established itself as the most innovative and eager for “fresh” solutions. The draft law “On electronic communications” was one of the first ones awaiting consideration.

The main idea of the law – SIM cards should be sold exclusively on the passport, “gray market” phones that are imported into Ukraine illegally should be blocked. According to the authors of the bill, such changes fit the requirements of the time and European integration processes. Improvement of supervision in the field of electronic communications is necessary for the prevention of offenses such as reports about terrorist attacks and mining.

Anton Semenov, the UIF expert on issues related to artificial intelligence explained that providers will receive the personal data and they will have to ensure its safe storage. This should prevent it from getting into the public domain. Personal data of contract subscribers and of those who use Mobile ID is already in the archives of providers.
