Ukraine is one of the few countries in the world where the public takes direct part in the procedures of competitions of candidates for judicial positions and qualifying examinations of judges. In some countries the representatives of the society are included in the bodies responsible for appointing judges. In Ireland they are called “informed consumers of judicial services”, in Sweden – “lay citizens”, and in Moldova something very similar as in Ukraine – “representatives of public society with an impeccable reputation.”
