Ukrainian Institute for the Future -

Iliya Kusa, an expert in international politics, became a member of the team of the think tank Ukrainian Institute for the Future (UIF).

This was announced by the Executive Director of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future Viktor Andrusiv.

“Iliya Kusa has unique competences. Except his professional knowledge of international politics, he is well versed in the situation in the Middle East, and he also speaks Arabic. This was an additional argument in favor of his candidacy. Unfortunately, Ukraine does not pay enough attention to this region, although very often the events there influence the foreign policy concerning Ukraine as well. I expect that in the nearest future Ukrainians will be able to receive high-quality analytics on international events and foreign policy,” – said Viktor Ansrusiv.

Iliya noted that he hopes to contribute to the study of Ukrainian international policy.

“I always wanted to do serious analytical work related to international themes. Besides, I was disappointed that the analytics in the field of international relations, security and geopolitics is so poorly developed in Ukraine. Ukrainian Institute for the Future – is a perfect platform for correcting this situation and making a contribution to the development of Ukraine in this direction, as well as paying more attention to international affairs,” Iliya said.

Iliya Kusa by education is an analyst and specialist in international law.

He was studying at Kyiv Institute of International Relations, majoring in International Information.

He has experience as a journalist: a correspondent and editor of international news, he also worked as a translator for some time.

As analyst he was cooperating with a number of public organizations in Ukraine, he has many publications in various editions on foreign policy, primarily on the theme of the Middle East.

He speaks English and Arabic.

Research interests: geopolitics, international security, fight against terrorism, the Middle East, foreign policy.
