In 5 years Ukraine will have big problems because the number of pensioners will exceed the number of those who work and pay taxes.
This was noted by experts of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future Iliya Kusa and Ihar Tyshkevich at the presentation of the report “Migration challenges for Ukraine”.
According to them, in order for a pensioner to receive 4 thousand UAH of pension, someone must pay 4 thousand UAH of social security tax. The government now faces a dilemma.
“In order for pensioners not to die of hunger, the government should raise taxes. In this case, even more Ukrainians will go abroad and then again there will be no funds to pay pensions from. Or another option: not to pay pensioners and stimulate the economy. Then the question arises: what will pensioners live on?”
In addition, Tyshkevich noted that a country in a state of war should remember that a migrant worker is also a mobilization resource of the state.
