THE UN RAN OUT OF MONEY FOR SAVING LIVES

Here is a wonderful example of international solidarity and willingness to help people.

Today I learned that the UN closes most of its life-saving humanitarian programmes in Yemen due to lack of funding.

What is meant here are 22 programs that will be phased out during the next 2 months. Another 5 programs were cancelled during the last 3 weeks. Today another one died.

And it involves everything, from the purchase and delivery of medicines, vaccination, food, water, warm clothes to the construction of specialized centers for psychological assistance, shelters and nutrition centers.

The closure of the programs will deny the opportunity for 2.5 million people in Yemen to receive humanitarian aid in the next couple of months. Another 19 million will lose access to basic health care and medicines.

But billions of dollars are spent annually to bomb this very same Yemen. For example, Europe has sold $ 86 billion worth of bombs to Saudi Arabia and the UAE over the past 3 years.
