Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman said that the average salary will amount to 620 USD by 2021. Anatoly Amelin, director of economic programmes of the Ukrainian Institute for the Future, comments on how realistic this scenario is.
“I would ask Groysman a few questions: the first – what the dollar exchange rate will be in 2021, and what his such timely forecasts are based on, the second – why the salary will be 600, not $800, because we are still talking about our path to Europe, and what will be the pace of development of the Ukrainian economy. The third is how labor migration will affect this process. All those statements that are made by Mr Groisman, to a large extent, are baseless for one simple reason – at the end of this year his cadence as Prime Minister ends. He will not be responsible for keeping those promises.”
