POLAND TAKES A STEP TOWARDS RECONCILIATION WITH UKRAINE, TEACHERS ARE PROTESTING, PIS RATINGS REMAIN HIGH

Poland has taken a step towards historical reconciliation with Ukraine, teacher`s protests continue, but the ruling party “Law and Justice” (Prawo i Sprawiedliwość, PiS) continues to hold leadership in the polls.

THE ACT ON THE INSTITUTE OF NATIONAL REMEMBRANCE

On January 17, the Constitutional Tribunal of Poland declared the provisions of The Act on the Institute of National Remembrance on Ukrainian nationalists to be unconstitutional. The Act was awaiting the adoption for about a year since Polish President Andrzej Duda appealed against three of its provisions. In among them, there was the clause stipulating a three-year prison term for crediting Nazi crimes to the Poles.
