The Ministry of Education gives statistics that the cost of studying of 1 pupil in a small school is up to 50 thousand UAH (in the city school this cost is on average 8 thousand UAH).
Therefore, it is not surprising that most schools are closed in rural areas. In 2014-2015 in Ukraine, 231 rural schools and 38 city schools were closed, at the same time 11 and 4 were opened. It is interesting that if we impose these data on the picture of the disappearance of villages in Ukraine, then we will see a completely organic picture. In this infographics, we clearly see the process of the disappearance of villages in Ukraine in 2003-2017. During this time 235 villages disappeared at all, and, in general, almost a thousand of villages and small towns disappeared from the map during the years of Ukraine’s independence.
