Yesterday, British Prime Minister Theresa May canceled the vote on the Brexit in Parliament, which was scheduled to be held today, on December 11.
This means that Theresa May now has two options, but both are bad – Iliya Kusa, the expert on international politics of UIF, explains.
The first option is to leave the EU without an agreement in March next year. “Britain would simply leave the legal field that is governing their relations. But it will be a disaster for the economy,” the expert adds.
The second option is not much better. Britain could hold a second referendum. Indeed, some recent polls claim that the number of those who support Brexit has decreased significantly in the UK.
“But this option discredits democratic institutions, especially the institution of the referendum. This will be a blow to the political system and traditions of the state,” Iliya Kusa explains.
