Ukraine needs to solve the problem of shortage of main-line locomotives, as the exporters have already lost about 1 billion dollars of income. Electrification of railway communications cannot be done quickly, and the construction of the plant takes 1-2 years. Therefore, the conclusion of a 15-year framework agreement between GE Company and Ukrzaliznytsia Ltd. priced at 1 billion dollars on the updating and modernization of traction equipment is one of the possible solutions of the problem.
