THE COAL ERA IN SLOVAKIA: WHY AND FOR WHAT GREENPEACE ACTIVISTS WERE DETAINED?

The other day there was an event that is connected with politics and the ecology at the same time in Slovakia. Police detained a group of activists of the international organization “Greenpeace” that staged a protest in Bratislava, demanding the government to end the “coal era”.

Everything happened on the territory of the Upper Nitra mining region in the West of Slovakia. Greenpeace activists staged a protest at town Novaky at one of the mines on November 28. 12 activists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany and Belgium climbed up the coal mine and hung banners calling to stop coal mining in Slovakia.
